When the FBI Comes Calling…®
Old Flow of Intelligence
Although transformed pursuant to the recommendations made by the 9-11 Commission, under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, the chief nerve center for the sharing of intelligence once went through the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC). In operation since May 1, 2003, the TTIC, currently housed at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, acted as a repository for intelligence information throughout the federal government relevant to national security, namely terrorism. Each intelligence entity provides it with updated information and each may obtain further intelligence from all other entities connected with TTIC by submitting a request. Additionally, the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) acted as a consolidated watch list and provides 24/7 support for federal screeners all over the world.
The various intelligence agencies do work with one another directly however, but TTIC merely existed to ensure these cooperative links and provide a central location for intelligence networking to take place.
